When it comes to Machine Translation (MT), everyone’s needs differ. “Raw MT” may not meet your expectations, even for document screening, and “traditional” human translation is often too costly for screening large volumes of documentation. McElroy uses MT Plus to fill the gap between these options and recommends MT Supreme for higher volume, limited domain scenarios.

Individual documents are processed automatically after adding custom dictionaries to the MT environment.
1. File preparation and text extraction: McElroy prepares your files for MT processing. The cost for extractable text file types is nominal, OCR is available for non-extractable text files.
2. Custom terminology development: Key legal and technical term glossaries are created to apply in the MT environment.
3. MT Plus file processing: Files are MT processed in combination with McElroy’s translation memory and term base tools.
4. The deliverable is plain text format or TMX (an XML standard). This is compatible with processing by E-Discovery analytical systems.
Hosting
We will help you select the best option for your project from available MT solutions. The solution may be hosted at McElroy or offered on a “Software as a Service” (SaaS) basis. We will retain all of the language data in our internal systems in a way that supports ongoing terminology development activities or subsequent human translation or post-editing services.
Fees
This service is offered on a monthly basis (paid quarterly in advance) for $7,000/month, and covers routine usage (about 3300 pages/day) across all supported languages.
• One-time set-up & integration fee: $5,000
• OCR services as needed (billed separately)
• Optional: Custom Terminology Development – $10,000 (80 hours @ $125/hour) as a typical example
• One Time Use: $0.10/page for a minimum of 200,000 pages (within a 3 month window)
• Subscription Options:
- Tier 1: Monthly Charge $7K, 100,000 pages/month, $.07 per page
- Tier 2: Monthly Charge $10K, 200,000 pages/month, $.05 per page
- Tier 3: Monthly Charge $16K, 400,000 pages/month, $.04 per page
o Charges for usage above subscription level: $0.10/page for up to twice monthly subscription rate, $0.15/page for between 2X and 3X monthly subscription rate, and processing above 3X subscription rate allowed only on a “space available” basis.
